To check availability and secure your spot on the Inca Jungle Trail 4-day trek, simply click the “BOOK ONLINE” button to access our real-time booking calendar. If your selected start date is available, this confirms that Machu Picchu entrance tickets are also available for your visit day.
Once your reservation is confirmed, Wonderful Machu Picchu Reservation will immediately purchase your official Machu Picchu entrance ticket on your behalf. We always select the best available circuit at the time of booking, based on real-time availability from the official Peruvian government system, which is the only authorized platform for Machu Picchu ticket sales. All tour operators access the same system—no agency has priority or special access.
We prioritize Machu Picchu circuits in the following order, depending on availability at the time of purchase:
Option 1:
Llaqta Machu Picchu / Circuit 2 – Classic Route / Route 2-A (Designed Classic)
Includes the iconic panoramic viewpoint and a complete guided tour of the Inca citadel. Photo & video access included.
Option 2:
Llaqta Machu Picchu / Circuit 2 – Classic Route / Route 2-B (Lower Terrace)
Very similar to Option 1, with a slightly different path through the urban sector. Photo & video access included.
Option 3:
Llaqta Machu Picchu / Circuit 1 – Panoramic Route / Route 1-B (Upper Terrace)
Access to the upper terraces and classic viewpoint, without entering the citadel. Photo & video access included.
Option 4:
Llaqta Machu Picchu / Circuit 3 – Royal Sector / Route 3-B (Designed Royalty)
Focuses on the lower part of Machu Picchu, without access to the classic viewpoint. Photo & video access included.
Option 5:
Llaqta Machu Picchu / Circuit 1 – Route 1-A (Machu Picchu Mountain)
Includes the hike to Machu Picchu Mountain with spectacular panoramic views; does not include the citadel. Photo & video access included.
Option 6:
Llaqta Machu Picchu / Circuit 3 – Route 3-A (Huayna Picchu Mountain)
Includes the Huayna Picchu hike and a brief visit to the lower section of the citadel. Photo & video access included.
⚠️ IMPORTANT BOOKING ADVICE
If Circuit 2 (Option 1) is important to you, we strongly recommend booking at least 4 months in advance, as it is the most requested circuit and sells out quickly. Machu Picchu ticket availability depends entirely on the official government platform, and availability can change at any time.
Our Inca Jungle adventure begins early in the morning with hotel pick-up from Cusco at approximately 6:00 AM. We travel through the spectacular Sacred Valley of the Incas, enjoying panoramic views of traditional Andean villages and the impressive Vilcabamba and Vilcanota mountain ranges.
After a scenic 2-hour drive, we stop in the historic town of Ollantaytambo, where breakfast is included. Here, you’ll have time to stretch, use the facilities, and prepare for the adventure ahead. We then continue ascending to the Abra Malaga Pass, located at 4,350 meters (14,271 ft) above sea level—one of the highest points of the Inca Jungle route.
At Abra Malaga, we begin our thrilling downhill biking experience, descending from the high Andes toward the tropical jungle. Before starting, you will receive all professional biking equipment, along with a detailed safety briefing and training session. The ride offers incredible views of snow-capped peaks such as Nevado Veronica, winding roads, and dramatic changes in climate and scenery as we descend to Santa Maria (1,430 m / 4,691 ft).
Along the way, we stop at the fascinating Inca archaeological site of Huamanmarca, where we enjoy lunch and explore this hidden historical gem surrounded by lush vegetation. After the visit, we continue by vehicle to Santa Maria.
In the afternoon, the adventure continues with an exciting white water rafting experience on the Urubamba River. This 1 to 1.5-hour rafting session offers the perfect mix of adrenaline and fun, surrounded by stunning jungle landscapes.
Upon arrival in Santa Maria, you will check into your accommodation, enjoy a hot shower, and have time to relax. In the evening, we gather at a local restaurant for a delicious dinner, sharing stories from a day filled with adventure, nature, and unforgettable experiences.
The day begins early with a nutritious breakfast at a local restaurant around 6:00 AM, preparing us for one of the most scenic and culturally rich days of the Inca Jungle Trek. Today’s hike follows a route of great historical significance, once used by the Incas to connect Machu Picchu with Vilcabamba, the last capital of the Inca Empire.
We start with a short 45-minute walk along the road before entering the original Inca trail, where the landscape transforms into lush jungle scenery. Along the trail, you will walk past thriving banana, coca, yucca, and coffee plantations, while enjoying panoramic views of the Vilcanota Valley and surrounding hills covered in tropical vegetation. This section of the hike lasts approximately 3 hours, offering a perfect balance of nature, history, and adventure.
We arrive at the small village of Quellomayo, where we stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After a short break, we continue hiking alongside the Vilcanota River, enjoying the peaceful jungle atmosphere. The next 3.5-hour hike leads us to the famous Colcamayo Hot Springs, a natural outdoor retreat ideal for relaxing and soothing tired muscles. You will have time to enjoy the hot springs before continuing the journey.
After leaving the hot springs, a final 45-minute hike brings us to Santa Teresa, where we check into our accommodation. In the evening, we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, sharing experiences from another unforgettable day immersed in nature and Andean history.
The day starts at 6:30 AM with breakfast, followed by an exciting morning filled with adventure. At approximately 8:00 AM, the zipline company will pick us up and transfer us to the zipline base camp. After a safety briefing and equipment check, you’ll enjoy an exhilarating 2-hour zipline experience, flying across four different zipline cables and crossing an impressive suspension bridge, all surrounded by lush jungle landscapes.
After the zipline adventure, we travel by vehicle for about 1 hour to Hidroelectrica, where we stop for lunch. This area marks the gateway to one of the most scenic walking routes to Machu Picchu.
In the afternoon, we begin a scenic hike along the railway tracks toward Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). This 10–11 km walk, lasting approximately 3 to 3.5 hours, follows the Urubamba River and offers beautiful views of cloud forest, waterfalls, and tropical vegetation.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will check into your hotel and have time to rest and prepare for the highlight of the journey. In the evening, around 7:00 PM, we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, then return to the hotel for a restful night before visiting Machu Picchu the next morning.
Your final adventure day begins very early with breakfast at your hotel in Aguas Calientes around 4:00 AM. From here, you will travel to Machu Picchu’s Main Entrance, choosing between two access options depending on your preference.
If you choose to hike, departure is around 4:30 AM. You will walk approximately 30 minutes from Aguas Calientes to Puente Ruinas, the first checkpoint where you must present your original passport and Machu Picchu entrance ticket.
After passing the checkpoint, you begin the uphill climb to Machu Picchu, ascending nearly 1,700 stone steps through lush cloud forest. The hike takes approximately 1 to 1 hour and 20 minutes. Upon arrival at the main gate, you will meet your guide and group to begin the guided visit of the citadel.
If you prefer comfort, you may take the shuttle bus (USD $12 per person, one way). Bus tickets can be purchased the night before or the same morning in Aguas Calientes. The first buses depart at 5:30 AM, and the ride takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival, you will meet your guide around 6:00 AM and enter Machu Picchu together.
Your program includes a Machu Picchu entrance ticket, with priority circuits 01 or 02, subject to availability at the time of booking. If these circuits are unavailable, Circuit 03 or 04 will be included. Early booking is strongly recommended to secure preferred circuits.
Once inside Machu Picchu, your professional English-speaking guide will lead a 2.5-hour guided tour, following the designated circuit. During the tour, you will explore the most iconic areas of the Inca citadel while learning about its history, architecture, and spiritual significance. Time is allocated for photographs and panoramic views of the sanctuary.
At the end of the guided visit, you will have free time to relax or continue exploring independently.
For travelers choosing either mountain hike, returning to Cusco by train is highly recommended to allow sufficient time.
If returning by car, you must begin walking from Machu Picchu toward Hidroelectrica around 10:30 AM. The hike takes approximately 3 to 3.5 hours, and arrival by 2:00 PM is essential. The vehicle departs at 2:30 PM, and the journey to Cusco takes about 6 hours, arriving around 9:30 PM, with drop-off in the city center.
If returning by train, descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes either by walking (1.5 hours) or by bus (30 minutes / USD $12). You will have time for lunch and to collect your belongings before heading to the train station.
Train departures to Ollantaytambo are typically at 2:30 PM or 2:55 PM, subject to availability. The scenic train journey lasts 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, a private transfer arranged by Machu Picchu Reservations will take you back to Cusco in approximately 2 hours, arriving around 6:30 PM, with drop-off in the city center.
Your 4-day Inca Jungle Tour includes the official Machu Picchu entrance ticket, regardless of whether you return by car or train. The ticket normally grants access to Circuit 02 (Llaqta Machu Picchu), subject to availability at the time of booking. If Circuit 02 is unavailable, an alternative circuit (01, 03, or 04) will be arranged to ensure your visit is guaranteed.
A mandatory pre-tour briefing is held at 6:00 PM the day before departure at the Machu Picchu Reservations office. During this briefing, you will receive important details about the itinerary, safety measures, and final recommendations. Virtual briefings are available upon request with at least 48 hours’ notice.
All tours are led by official, government-licensed bilingual guides (English & Spanish), trained at recognized tourism institutes or universities in Peru. Our experienced guides ensure safety, cultural interpretation, and an enriching experience throughout the journey.
The package includes a 2.5-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, following the circuit assigned to your ticket. The guide will explain the history, architecture, and significance of the Inca citadel, with time allocated for photos and panoramic viewpoints. After the tour, you will have free time to explore independently.
